Exploring Your Human Design Chart: Types, Energy, and Authority

Human Design

Have you ever felt like you’re not living up to your full potential, or that you’re constantly struggling to find your place in the world? If so, you’re not alone – many of us experience these feelings at some point in our lives. But what if there was a way to better understand your unique strengths and weaknesses, and use that knowledge to create a more fulfilling life? That’s where Human Design comes in.

Human Design is a system of personality analysis that combines elements of astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalah, and quantum physics to create a unique and highly individualized framework for understanding one’s strengths, weaknesses, and life path. In this article, we’ll explore the key concepts of Human Design and how you can apply them to your own life.

What is Human Design?

At its core, Human Design is designed to help individuals better understand themselves and their place in the world. It’s based on the idea that each person is completely unique and has their own set of strengths and weaknesses. By examining various aspects of an individual’s birth chart, such as their type, authority, and profile, Human Design can offer insights into everything from career choices and relationships to health and wellness.

Furthermore, there is no such thing as a bad Human Design Chart. I like to consider your chart to be a map of your Soul’s Contract with the universe for how it wants to experience the world.

Energy Types: Your Unique Aura

One of the key concepts of Human Design is the idea of Energy types, or Auric types. According to Human Design, each individual has a specific energy type that radiates off of them and informs how they interact with the world around them. There are five energy types: Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, and Reflector. Understanding your energy type is like learning what kind of instrument your body is. As I said before, there is nothing bad about any unique Human Design chart. If we think of life as an orchestra, think of your body as an instrument. All you need to do is understand your body and energy type to best understand how to play music in the orchestra of life!

Authority Types

Another important aspect of Human Design is authority. Authority refers to the inner compass or decision-making process that an individual should use to make important life decisions. There are several different types of authority in Human Design, including emotional authority, sacral authority, and splenic authority. Understanding your authority type can help you make more informed and authentic decisions in your life.

For example, you have a powerful voice if you are a Self-Projected Authority type. You will need to get out of your head and allow your thoughts to flow freely with your voice, bouncing ideas off people and hearing how they sound to you. Sometimes what comes out of your mouth during this process may even surprise you, as you don’t know exactly where it came from! Once you get it all out, you can act on what resonates with you.

The Not-Self

In Human Design, the “not-self” refers to the aspects of our personality that are not in alignment with our true nature. This can manifest as feelings of frustration, anger, or resentment. By recognizing and understanding our not-self behaviors, we can work to decondition ourselves and live a more authentic and fulfilling life.

This of course, is also nuanced. Each “not-self” means something different to each person, so deep self-inquiry is needed to use this for your highest growth!

Deconditioning

Deconditioning is the process of letting go of old patterns and beliefs that are not in alignment with our true nature. Since childhood we’ve all been taught what is “normal” or “acceptable”, and often times these subconscious beliefs aren’t even true to us! Furthermore, they’re unique to each person’s upbringing.

Let’s say for example that you were taught not to talk at the dinner table and you’re a high-sound or buzzing digestion type, you’d have been raised to go against your unique design. By deconditioning ourselves, we can create space for new, more authentic behaviors and beliefs to emerge. This process can be challenging, but it’s an important step in living a more fulfilling life.
